Sunflower Friend

Composition Technique: Filling Frame
Element or Principle of Design: Contrast, Pattern
Exposure Mode: Manual
Aperture: 8.0
Shutter Speed: 1/1600

This photo was taken in my from yard. It was one of only two surviving giant sunflowers we planted that didn't topple over from our last heavy rains. As a reward for it's determination to stand tall it was visited by a baby bumble bee.

  1. A great photo that shows excellent contrast and great pattern. I like how the yellow really stands out. You could try to fill the frame more by cropping the photo so the sunflower fills the frame more. Then you would have the contrast between the petals and the inner texture.

The color in this photo is amazing. I love how the background is practically black and white which just makes your photo even more vibrant. I'm also loving the bee! what a great photo opportunity. The color is what really pops up for me if you wanted it to be more pattern perhaps get even closer.

Very nice focus on the sunflower! I never would have noticed the bee if you hadn't had said it was on there, then I went looking for it. How fun!

  4. I like this one a lot. Reminds me of the mixed media that I did for the SDSB, (that is now in there permanent collection!)
    Good Job!
